2023 Route and daily programme:
July 6th, 2023
12:00pm – On site registration opens, Ilala Lodge & Hotel
– All participants to collect registration packets, fill out additional information & payments if not done in advance
– All participants to sort out their bikes, put their numbers on the bikes and put onto bike racks at Ilala to load onto the trucks before 16:00.
18:00 – Drinks and Rider Briefing begins ** There will only be one briefing for the entire event so please do not miss this.
19:00-21:00 Dinner at Ilala for all participants (3 course meal included in registration), Drinks tickets available @$10 per book, supporters to book in advance
July 7th (Day 1~72kms, Start: Victoria Falls Airport)
06:00- Participant buses depart Ilala Lodge to start of ride, (25 minutes down the road towards Hwange)
07:00 Start of ride. There will be a valuables box/trailer at the start.
Finish- Shearwater Village
Lunch will be available at Shearwater Village for all riders ( included in registration)
Afternoon Free at your leisure
16:00- All bikes to be ready and put onto bike racks for loading onto trucks at Illala Lodge for Day 2

July 8th (Day 2 Distance~55kms) Start 4kms Down Gorges Road (25 min from town)
06:00- Participant buses depart Ilala Lodge to start of ride, on Gorges Road (20 minutes down the road towards Hwange)
07:00 Start of ride. There will be a valuables box/trailer at the start.
Finish- Wild Horizons Lookout Café
Lunch for riders at Wild Horizons Lookout Café ( included in registration)
Afternoon Free at your leisure
16:00- All bikes to be ready and put onto bike racks for loading onto trucks for Day 3
Dinner- Included for Ilala Lodge Guests in Accommodation package, or for pre-booking by non-residents ?
July 9th (Day 3 Distance 52 kms Batoka Gorge, Riding on the Edge) 1hr out of town to the start.
06:00- Participant buses depart Ilala Lodge to start of ride, (45 minutes down the Gorges Road)
07:15 Start of ride. Valuables box/trailer will be at the start.
Finish- Ilala Lodge
Lunch for riders at Ilala Lodge ( included in registration fee)
16:00- Transfers from Ilala Lodge to Pure Africa Jetty Site
16:30- Sunset Cruise, canapes and drinks provided with registration for all participants
18:30-Gala Dinner (3 course meal) included in registration for all participants, photos, prizegiving and an evening of fun (drinks are not included and can be purchased on site using drinks tickets ($10 booklets) directly from Pure Africa)
Transfers back to Ilala Lodge will be available after dinner onwards until 22:00
Please note the following:
- Please park your vehicles on arrival outside of the Ilala cark park at the bank arcade parking lot which has been pre-booked for the event. Security will be around at the banks.
- Services packages are available. Information will be sent out in due course.
- There will be bike washers available to clean up your bike each day
- There will be an electronic timing system being used and the chips will be stuck to your number board. The numbers have been pre allocated to each rider so do not switch boards!
- There will only be two waterpoints on Day 1 and Day 2 and one waterpoint on Day 3. There will be checkpoints that will have only water as well. Please ensure you have sufficient water and snacks to get you to the water points. The waterpoint will be providing a variety of basic food water and cokes.
- Lunches will be available at the finish. Lunches on Day 1, 2,and 3 ( riding days) are included for participants, and available to supporters at their own cost. Drinks are at own cost.
- There will be an ambulance on standby during the event and ACE medics at the finish of each days ride. ACE are located directly behind Ilala Lodge for any medical requirements, you are required to have medical aid to participate in this event and any incidentals are at your own cost
